Shawn is a practicing physical therapist. She received her Masters of Physical Therapy from USC in 1990. She has been working in orthopedics for over 25 years. She specializes in treating spine dysfunction such as neck and back pain but is qualified to treat all areas of the body. In 2003, Shawn became a certified STOTT PILATES® instructor. She incorporates Pilates in all of her physical therapy rehabilitation. Shawn has found that Pilates is a more effective rehab tool than traditional physical therapy exercises.
Shawn started the practice of yoga over 20 years ago. She was drawn to yoga because of its many health benefits, not only on a physical level but also on a mental and spiritual level. Shawn began teaching yoga in 1995. She received her Yoga Teacher Certification in 1999 from the Yoga Institute of Houston.
Shawn began practicing Reiki in 1999. She obtained her Reiki Master Teacher certification in 2005. Shawn is also a registered Karuna Reiki practitioner and teacher, registered with the International Center for Reiki Training. Shawn teaches monthly Reiki classes.
Shawn specializes in working with people who have special needs or injuries and incorporates supportive and healing poses in her Pilates and yoga workouts.
Stephanie has been teaching pilates and yoga since 2000. She is Stott certified in mat pilates, reformer, cadillac, stability chairs and barrels. Stephanie’s training puts emphasis on optimal musculoskeletel performance in strength, flexibility and endurance, without risking injury or building bulk.
She has over 350 hours of yoga training and is certified through Yogafit. She is currently completing 500 hours of yoga training. Stephanie is trained in Reiki and enjoys the healthful benefits of energy healing. She has taught many strength training modalities but has found pilates and yoga to be superior for strength training, injury prevention, injury recovery and flexibility. Before she discovered her true passion for teaching the essence and principles of movement, Stephanie received her Bachelors Degree in law/paralegal studies.
Rachelle specializes in effective prevention and treatment of injuries, posture and gait analysis and athletic conditioning. She incorporates Pilates, boxing, martial arts and active stretching into her workouts. She focuses on functional fitness for improved flexibility, strength, endurance and agility. Rachelle offers creative programming in her workouts while meeting each person’s individual needs.
As a life-time fitness enthusiast, Karen practices and teaches a variety of activities: low-impact aerobics, aqua fitness, line-dancing, yoga, mixed martial arts and Pilates.
After many years instructing in the health club and physical rehabilitation environments,Karen has specialized in senior fitness/wellness for over 25 years incorporating Pilates into their classes.
Trained in classical ballet during her youth the standard was set for furthering her knowledge of Pilates and received her training in both Mat and Reformer through the Stott Method.
Other certifications and education include AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America), Southern California School of Yoga Science, California Community College Teaching Credential, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Art and Design.
She enjoys her “down-time” with her 2 precious grandsons, gardening, cooking for anyone and everyone, traveling, and living as mindful and creatively as possible.
